Harbour Assist welcomes one of the world’s largest and busiest natural harbours.
Poole Harbour Commissioners
In March of this year, Harbour Assist welcomed aboard Poole Harbour Commissioners.
Poole Harbour, one of the world’s largest and busiest natural harbours, is situated in one of the most picturesque regions of the British Isles and has various significant environmental designations. This multi-site Trust accommodates diverse marine interests – commercial, recreational, government, and environmental.
In addition to managing the significant commercial operations of the Port of Poole itself, the commissioners oversee a diverse range of marine leisure operations within the Poole statutory harbour area including managing approximately 300 marina berths and moorings, licensing over 1500 swing moorings managed by others, regulating the use of over 4000 other craft with annual Harbour Dues / Permits (berthed over a dozen marinas and yacht clubs) plus many more daily/weekly users, and over 8000 overnight visiting yachts annually.
Given the scale and complexity of their operations, Poole Harbour Commissioners sought a Management System to unify and streamline their processes for their recreational customers, and Harbour Assist proved to be the ideal solution. The system’s implementation is being executed in two phases, with the Harbour now up and running and their two marinas following in the Autumn of 2024.
