Waiheke Marina

Harbour Assists first New Zealand customer, Waiheke Marina, is nestled at the heart of the breathtaking Hauraki Gulf on Waiheke Island, just a 40-minute journey from Auckland.  As a brand-new development, Waiheke Marina will provide secure, state-of-the-art berthing for approximately 180 boats spanning from 10m to 30m in length, along with top-notch amenities for visiting vessels.

Ideally situated at Kennedy Point, where Putiki Bay meets the sea, apart from a fixed access wharf, all of the marina buildings and car parks are provided on floating pontoons designed by world leaders SF Marinas AB, but built locally.

As the Waiheke Marina team embarked on building this exciting new facility, they realised the importance of implementing a versatile system to accommodate the distinct requirements of both long-term managed berths and short-term visiting vessels. This was especially crucial considering that Waiheke Marina holds the distinction of being New Zealand’s first Island Destination Marina, featuring a significant number of short-term rental berths designed to cater to boating enthusiasts looking to visit, explore, and appreciate Waiheke Island. Consequently, they sought a Marina Management Software solution that was dynamic and ideally suited for this distinctive high-volume rental system, a first of its kind in New Zealand.

Deane Ingram (General Manager, Waiheke Marina) commented: “I cannot praise Viking Systems and the Harbour Assist application high enough. The solution provides real time visibility of what is happening across the Marina, is quick to establish customers and process bookings. A real asset to the system is the Customer Portal, allowing customers to make bookings via the Portal without having to call the Marina or come into the office. Our staff can quickly respond with a booking and an invoice which we find is quickly paid by the customer such is the ease of use of the Harbour Assist Portal.”

Deane continued, “Furthermore, the customer support from the Viking Systems team is nothing short of exemplary. They answer our queries and remedy bugs within 24 hours; the time difference between New Zealand and the United Kingdom has actually worked in our favour in this regard as the Viking Team is able to process our support requests during our overnight hours such that we come back in the morning to a set of solutions awaiting us. We’re very proud to be New Zealand’s first users of Harbour Assist.”
