Hamilton Island Marina

Perfectly located on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef amidst Queensland’s 74 Whitsunday Islands, Hamilton Island Marina offers a unique starting point for an unparalleled boating experience. With splendid weather, azure waters, pristine beaches, stunning coral reefs, and fascinating flora and fauna, this marina stands as an iconic Australian boating destination. It features 301 wet berths for long-term and casual visiting yachts up to 43 meters, along with 120 dry berths for smaller trailer boats, catering to residents, holiday homeowners, and staff members.

Hamilton Island, the largest of the six inhabited islands in the Whitsunday Island Group, boasts its own airport with direct flights from major cities and parking for private planes. This convenience allows yacht owners to be onboard their vessels and ready to cruise and explore hidden bays, iconic beaches, and discover their own piece of the Great Barrier Reef within minutes of landing. Hamilton Island provides a fully integrated resort experience with hotels, luxury holiday homes, an 18-hole golf course, two-day spas, a supermarket, retail outlets, restaurants, bars, and a plethora of activities expected from a world-class resort island.

Hamilton Island Marina also hosts the annual Hamilton Island Race Week, Australia’s largest keelboat regatta. Every August, local and international competitors, along with family and friends, gather to enjoy the event’s unique camaraderie and carnival atmosphere both on and off the water.

Hamilton Island Marina began their search for a new marina management system as their existing system lacked the modern capabilities and compliance requirements to meet customer expectations. After a thorough evaluation of available systems, they identified Harbour Assist as the optimal choice.

Marina Manager Jeanette Harris stated, “The marina team was particularly impressed with the intuitive interface, which addresses the challenge of high staff turnover by enabling quick onboarding and reducing training time. The marina is also part of a larger integrated resort, so the system’s compatibility with our Financial Software, coupled with its cloud-based architecture and PCI compliance, aligned seamlessly with our existing technological infrastructure.”

Jeanette added, “We hope to use Harbour Assist to improve our processes, particularly in the financial and reporting space, gain administrative efficiencies, and enhance the customer service experience for our clients. Having a modern solution with real-time visibility and a customer portal where our clients can electronically sign agreements, view their account details, make bookings, and update documents in one place is fantastic.”

The onboarding of Hamilton Island Marina was completed in 8 weeks from the start of the project to go-live. “The onboarding process with Harbour Assist has been much smoother than anticipated. The support we received has been exceptional, with the team always available to provide assistance and customise aspects of the system to better suit our unique needs. We were initially apprehensive about the time difference between Australia and the UK support team, but they have gone out of their way to make it work for us. The Harbour Assist team has been incredibly accommodating with training sessions, fitting them into our schedules, and the ongoing support has exceeded our expectations. Any questions we can’t figure out from the excellent help documents are answered overnight, meaning our team has an answer the next day as we arrive at the office,” Jeanette said.
