White Mills Marina

Located at Lock 9 on the scenic River Nene in Northamptonshire, White Mills Marina has become a sought-after destination for boaters, offering year-round mooring for up to 141 boats. Designed with safety and convenience in mind, its floating pontoons ensure boats are secure in all weather conditions. Recognised for excellence, the marina was named Towergate’s ‘Marina of the Year’ in both 2020 and 2021 and holds the prestigious ‘Four Gold Anchor’ award from The Yacht Harbour Association.

The story of White Mills Marina began as a vision during a family brainstorming session. After a five-year process, planning permission was granted in 2014, transforming a former grazing field into a state-of-the-art marina. Its name pays homage to the White Mills that once stood nearby, and the pontoons are named after notable figures associated with the mills: Bradshaw, Tooley, and Arnold.

Part of Pastures Farm for over 30 years, the marina is nestled next to a 27-acre Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), known for housing Northamptonshire’s second-largest reed bed. This natural setting attracts a host of wildlife, making the area a popular spot for walkers and bird watchers alike.

The marina offers facilities catering to all types of boaters, accommodating wide beams, narrowboats, and cruisers. In addition to the secure floating pontoons, White Mills boasts modern amenities. Since 2017, The Boathouse, a large open-plan café, has welcomed visitors who come to explore the River Nene and Nene Valley. The marina also provides camping facilities, offering space for motorhomes, campervans, caravans, and tents.

Georgina Wickham, Marina Manager, says–  “When I first joined White Mills, we were using an Access-based database that made it difficult to link boats to their owners. Invoicing was done manually, relying on user knowledge which led to inevitable errors”.

“Harbour Assist offers a wide range of reports, reminders, and housekeeping features that make marina management so much simpler. It has greatly improved our efficiency, and our admin costs have even slightly decreased due to the elimination of inefficiencies.”

“The onboarding process for Harbour Assist was seamless, and the support from the Harbour Assist team has been exceptional – nothing is ever too much trouble.  Thank you for changing our working days” she added.

As White Mills Marina continues to grow, it remains a shining example of thoughtful design, efficient management, and a strong connection to the local environment. With its idyllic riverside location and award-winning service, it is a hub for boaters and nature enthusiasts alike.
